Top 2 Players to Watch Out For In 2017

Batsman: KL Rahul (India)

KL Rahul is among the most highly rated opening batsmen in India’s next generation. A tall, elegant right-hand batsman, who has played in all formats of the game, has shown that he has the game for all 3 formats.

He can be a keeper, an opener or a top order batsman, a proper Test batsman but also score freely in T20Is as shown by his century in just 46 balls which is the joint second fastest ever in T20I history.

He is one of 2 Indian players who converted their first three Test fifties into centuries – the other being Mohammad Azharuddin. He is also one of 3 India openers who scored their first three or more Test centuries all away from home – scored centuries in Australia, Sri Lanka and West Indies. (Sunil Gavaskar & Vinoo Mankad being the others).

Bowler: Kasigo Rabada (South Africa)

He made his international debut at the age of 19 against Australia in November, 2015. He had the dream debut against Bangladesh in ODIs where he took a hat-trick in his second over and ended with the figures of 6/16, the best bowling figures by a debutant.

Rabada never failed to impress and is consistently doing well since his debut, which has secured his position in the team. South Africa has found a perfect replacement for Steyn, who has been out of the team due to injuries in last one year. This was proven in the second innings during the Perth test against Australia in November 2016 where he single handedly won South Africa the match whilst being a bowler down without Dale Steyn.

In the recent ongoing test series against Sri-Lanka, Rabada is the leading wicket-taker in the series by picking up 14 wickets in 2 tests.

Much more will be expected from him in the future as South Africa’s pace bowling stocks have been depleted due to injuries and Kolpak deals.
